Hi, and welcome to Health & Balance. We’re really glad you found us.
If you’ve ever stood in a supermarket aisle wondering whether something is actually good for you, or scrolled past yet another headline promising to “fix” your body in seven days, you already understand why this little blog exists. Health information is everywhere now, and somehow that has made it harder, not easier, to know what to believe. One week coffee is ruining your life; the next it’s a miracle. One expert swears by a strict routine; another says the opposite. It’s exhausting, and it’s enough to make anyone give up.
So we set out to build a calmer corner of the internet. A place where looking after yourself feels less like a test you keep failing and more like a handful of small, doable choices: what you eat, how you move, how well you sleep, and how gently you talk to yourself on the harder days.
What “balance” actually means to us
The word gets thrown around a lot, so here is what we really mean by it. Balance is not a perfect diet or a flawless five a.m. routine. It is being able to have the pizza and the vegetables, the rest day and the walk, the late night and the early one, without feeling like you have ruined everything. Real life has birthdays, deadlines, tired evenings and weeks that simply do not go to plan. Advice that pretends otherwise is not really advice; it is just pressure in a nicer outfit.
That is why we write for the version of you who has twenty spare minutes, not two spare hours. The habits that survive a busy Tuesday are the ones that actually change anything, so those are the ones we care about most.
Our story
Health & Balance grew out of a very ordinary frustration. Like a lot of people, we were worn down by wellness content that contradicted itself week to week, “detox” products that promised the impossible, and articles written as though everyone has a personal chef, a home gym and endless free time. We kept thinking the same thing: surely someone can just explain, in plain language, what the research honestly says, and be upfront about the parts we still do not know.
That became the whole point of this site. Not louder claims. Clearer, calmer, more honest ones.
How we write, and what we promise you
We take the “balance” in our name seriously, and nowhere more than with the facts. A few things we try hard to live up to on every article:
- We follow the evidence, not the trend. Wherever we can, we lean on trusted sources such as the NHS, the CDC, the World Health Organization and the European Medicines Agency, along with peer-reviewed research, rather than whatever happens to be going viral.
- We are honest when the science is messy. Plenty of health questions do not have a tidy answer yet. When the evidence is early, mixed or based on small studies, we say so, instead of dressing it up as a breakthrough.
- We do not do hype, and we do not do fear. No miracle cures, no shame, no “this one food is secretly destroying your health.” If something only helps some people some of the time, we will tell you who and when.
- We keep it practical and kind. Clear steps, realistic starting points, and full permission to adapt everything to your own body, budget and life.
And if we ever get something wrong, we would genuinely rather fix it than defend it. Trust is the only thing a site like this really has.
Who writes Health & Balance
Health & Balance is written and edited by Simarjeet Singh. Simarjeet trained in nursing, completing the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) programme, and works in the healthcare industry, so a real, day-to-day care for people’s wellbeing sits behind everything you read here.
That background also shapes how the articles come together: a habit of slowing down, checking what the research and official health guidance actually say, and being honest about what is still uncertain. It does not turn any single article into personal medical care, and it is never a replacement for a conversation with your own doctor or nurse. What it does mean is that the information here is written by someone who understands how much your health matters, and who treats that responsibility seriously.
What you will find here
Our articles cover the everyday building blocks of feeling good, with nothing extreme and nothing that needs special equipment:
- Nutrition and healthy eating: what the research really says about food, minus the fads and the guilt.
- Healthy recipes: simple, nourishing meals for ordinary, busy days.
- Fitness and movement: beginner-friendly exercise, better posture and gentle ways to move a little more.
- Mental wellness: stress, focus, and the small things that help you feel steadier.
- Sleep and recovery: resting properly and giving your body the time it needs to recharge.
We would always rather publish one careful, genuinely useful article than ten quick ones written for clicks.
Who this is really for
Honestly? Regular people. You do not need to be an athlete, a nutritionist or a “wellness person” to belong here. If you simply want to feel a bit better, have more energy, ache a little less, and spend less time worrying about whether you are doing health “right,” then you are exactly who we write for. Starting from zero is not only allowed here, it is welcome.
A gentle but important note
Everything we publish is for general education, not personal medical advice. Please think of us as a friendly, reliable starting point rather than a replacement for your doctor, pharmacist or physiotherapist. Bodies are wonderfully different, and what works beautifully for one person may not suit another at all. For anything specific to your health, and especially for symptoms that are new, ongoing or worrying, please speak with a qualified professional. When it matters, we will always nudge you in that direction.
Come say hello
More than anything, we love hearing from the people who read this. If you have a question, a bit of feedback, or a topic you wish someone would finally explain properly, tell us. Head over to our Contact page and say hi, because some of our best articles have started life as a reader’s message.
Thank you for spending a little of your day here. Whatever brought you to this page, whether it is a nagging backache, a quiet curiosity about what you eat, or simply a wish to feel more like yourself again, we are really happy you came. Here is to feeling your best, one small, doable habit at a time.
